Rock n' roll!

We have a roller! Very exciting! William used to hate "tummy time," but we have been being good about it lately and still making him do a bit each day. He has been really close to rolling over for a while now, and today he did it for the first time!

It was a slow-motion roll - great idea, William, safety first! Might as well take it slow your first time trying something new :)

He was on his tummy and as he has been doing lately, looked like a little airplane - hands out, head up, wobbling from side to side. He got all the way over onto his side, and I could tell he was about it do it! He actually got stuck like that for a few seconds. I grabbed the video camera, and sure enough, a few seconds and after a Herculean effort on his part, he did it! Very proud. We'll see if he realizes his new powers, and if he does it a lot now. We're now on our way to a mobile little man, soon the days of him staying where we put him will be over!

This weekend we had a few other firsts - W's first hike (we went to Bull Creek, the picture above with Dad), AND his first time to a bar. Before you call Child Protective Services, don't worry. We were meeting Rob, and our friend Annie who was in town from Philly for dinner at El Chile on Saturday. There was a 30-40 minute wait (I almost cried at hearing that, because who knew what William would do... my whole plan and schedule for the night was now off! Gasp!). So we went to an outdoor bar next door that thankfully had rocking chairs on the patio. Wrapped W in a blanket, rocked away, and he fell right asleep. When the restaurant called us to say our table was ready, he kept on sleeping, and did through most of dinner. It was a great success! I definitely felt a little funny holding my baby at a bar, but it was laid-back and outside. It was quiet and dark, it worked out well! He is so worldly.
