First trip!

We got back yesterday from a big adventure - William's first trip! We flew to Florida and it was a great time! We stayed at Gran's, and we got to see the entire Rojahn family, which was so much fun. The Bunnells also made an appearance! We got to play with Grandpa and Nanna, and miss everyone so much already. William also got to meet Dad's Dad (who is now "Mom's Dad's Dad")!

William went swimming for the first time, which he absolutely loved, and which I'm sure we'll be doing much more of now that it's basically Summer in Austin.

There are more pictures on Facebook, but here are a select few. We can't wait to go back! Thank you so much to Gran!

We have another weekend with family coming up - Grandpa McCombie and Gula are coming to Austin on Thursday! Can't wait to see them, and for them to see how much W has changed! We had his first vegetable today - sweet potatoes. Went pretty well for a first try.

April Fools Day

I think it's worth a special post to remember that one year ago today, we "saw" William for the first time. He was a tiny little thing on the screen at our first ultrasound. My heart was pounding, Esch was holding my hand, and then suddenly we saw him, and his little heart beating away. It was one of the best days of my life! I will always think of it on April Fools Day. I remember walking out of the office, and we were both just overcome and so excited, and so happy.

And here he is now. Be still my heart!

Johanna in Austin!

EDIT: I added about 5 other pictures of the weekend here, but they are not showing up! Will keep trying. Check back!

We had the nicest weekend! Johanna came to stay with us from Friday-Monday morning, and we had the best time. Absolutely perfect, gorgeous weather: 75 to 80 and sunny ALL weekend. We were very ambitious and spent a lot of time with W out and about! Went to the Zilker Garden Festival, out to lunch at Shady Grove, dinner out at the Oasis... walked around South Congress, it was fun to show Johanna the town. William was just exhausted from his tourguide duties, as evidenced in the picture of him conked out in his carseat.

He absolutely loved her (and the toy shark she brought him, plus the PSU onesies from Aunt Jen!) and was flirting away all weekend.

We miss her to death already. Thank you so, so much for coming to see us, Johanna!

Back to the daily grind today!

On the agenda this week: continue with solid foods. William suddenly began doing well with oatmeal cereal at the end of last week, so we will keep eating that twice a day. Lots still ends up on the bib and all over baby and Mommy, but he is now opening his mouth wide for the spoon. Dr. Cepeda said to go ahead and try fruits and veggies, too, so we have bananas ready and waiting. Very exciting!

Where are my teeth?

At W's 4-month appointment a few weeks ago, the Dr. told us that it looked like W would be teething soon. He is drooling up a storm, and puts EVERYthing in his mouth. It's hard to catch a picture of him without a finger, thumb, entire hand, or toy in there. No signs of any poking through yet... but I did buy a few teething toys to put in his Easter basket. Hopefully we won't need them before then!

William has been discovering his vocal cords this past week with lots of funny new sounds. A few squeals, one VERY loud scream, some new giggles. There's a new YouTube video of him laughing at his Daddy: http://www.youtube.com/user/ErinEschWilliam#p/a/u/0/nLgCrKeaXPw

We are all very excited that Aunt Johanna is coming to Austin this weekend! Cannot wait to show her around town and introduce her to the little man. It was also great to see a special Ms. Luxton who was in town this weekend. We miss her!

18 weeks... and "Spring forward!"

The time change was NOT well received in our household! It was absolutely gorgeous out on Sunday (80 degrees!), and we took a family hike to really enjoy the sunshine.

William was apparently not thrilled with the confusion to his normal sleeping schedule, as he woke up 4 times last night. Needless to say, I am a bit of a walking zombie today, but that's ok.

Wish we could somehow get back to the few glorious weeks when he slept through the night (well, 10-5 a.m., which was pretty darn close)!

We had several more roll-overs this weekend which is still exciting, and perhaps the biggest news of the past week was that Dr. Cepeda told us we could begin trying solids! William's first food has been rice cereal. Not sure that more than a drop has actually gotten into his tummy, but we will continue to try 2 times a day. The faces of protest that he makes are pretty funny!
