Settling in

William is 3 1/2 weeks old - can't believe it! It seems like he has been here forever, but at the same time, the days are flying by in a haze of feeding, snuggling, diapers, and more feeding.

At his 3 week appointment on Monday, we were thrilled to find out that he has gained more than a pound since we brought him home from the hospital, AND has grown an inch!

We have been feeding him every 2 hours in the day (waking him up to stay on that schedule), and letting him sleep at night. He wakes up from between every 3-4 hours at night, which honestly is not too horrible! I had heard so many horror stories about getting no sleep, and of course it's hard to wake up at 3 a.m., but teamwork is helping out a lot - I feed him, and Esch changes him.

Now that our families are back in PA, and Esch is back to work, I have had my first few days alone with little Dubya (just kidding) this week, and it has been going well! There's no time to get anything done besides take care of him, but it's all fun and new. Monday night we gave him his first bath (had to wait until his cord fell off - and his little bellybutton is so cute!), AND he had his first bottle. The pump is my new favorite thing; it's pretty freeing to be able to have Esch give him a bottle and let me have a break for that 2-hour period!

If you have not seen them, here is the link to William's newborn photos. We are so happy with them! Naomi of Pitter Patter Photos did a great job.
