Visitors!

We had such a fun weekend - Lisa and Kara came from NYC! We were sad that Eric "Bananaman" couldn't make it, his flights were cancelled, but hopefully we can reschedule soon!

William was smitten with his 2 pretty new friends :) We were very busy - went out to brunch, dinner, a movie at the Drafthouse, shopping, and Esch watched him one night so Mommy could go out for a drink with the girls. It was so great to see them and have them in Austin! We even felt the need to ALL buy Texas shirts to mark the occasion. William watched the Oscars with us on Sunday night, and made the big night even more exciting with his second roll-over ever! We all got to see it. Very fun.

We'll miss them!

Tomorrow our little baby is going to be 4 MONTHS old... can't believe it. We have his 4-month appointment the next day, so I'm looking forward to that, can't wait to see how much he weighs and how much he has grown since his 2 month visit. Stay tuned!

Rock n' roll!

We have a roller! Very exciting! William used to hate "tummy time," but we have been being good about it lately and still making him do a bit each day. He has been really close to rolling over for a while now, and today he did it for the first time!

It was a slow-motion roll - great idea, William, safety first! Might as well take it slow your first time trying something new :)

He was on his tummy and as he has been doing lately, looked like a little airplane - hands out, head up, wobbling from side to side. He got all the way over onto his side, and I could tell he was about it do it! He actually got stuck like that for a few seconds. I grabbed the video camera, and sure enough, a few seconds and after a Herculean effort on his part, he did it! Very proud. We'll see if he realizes his new powers, and if he does it a lot now. We're now on our way to a mobile little man, soon the days of him staying where we put him will be over!

This weekend we had a few other firsts - W's first hike (we went to Bull Creek, the picture above with Dad), AND his first time to a bar. Before you call Child Protective Services, don't worry. We were meeting Rob, and our friend Annie who was in town from Philly for dinner at El Chile on Saturday. There was a 30-40 minute wait (I almost cried at hearing that, because who knew what William would do... my whole plan and schedule for the night was now off! Gasp!). So we went to an outdoor bar next door that thankfully had rocking chairs on the patio. Wrapped W in a blanket, rocked away, and he fell right asleep. When the restaurant called us to say our table was ready, he kept on sleeping, and did through most of dinner. It was a great success! I definitely felt a little funny holding my baby at a bar, but it was laid-back and outside. It was quiet and dark, it worked out well! He is so worldly.

Special Edition: It's SNOWING in TX!

Unbelievable! It was in the mid 70s just the day before yesterday, and today we have about 1.5 inches of snow! So bizarre... Georgia is in heaven. William was not sure what to make of it when I took him out for a few minutes over my lunch break. BRR!

15 weeks old!

It was the fastest week yet, somehow the past 7 days flew by extra-quickly. We have been watching the Olympics at night, which is always fun. Yesterday it was in the mid-70s and sunny, so we took William AND Georgia downtown to the leash-free part of the walking trails at Auditorium Shores. It was really fun - the dog loved it... the baby, not so much!

We had a little meltdown halfway through our walk, but all was well with a quick sneak-feed in the car, and then Mom and Dad got a nice treat, too - we drove through at P. Terry's for burgers. Mmm!

In other news, I decided to try being a brunette (it's just temporarary!)... William still recognizes me, and Esch likes it, but joked that I look like my "evil twin." :)

Happy Valentines Day!

We had a nice day yesterday - it was finally sunny and warm, so we took a walk and then after William ate and napped, we went out to lunch. It was the first time we've attempted eating out with the baby with just Esch and I - I've taken him to lunch a few times, but this was the first as a family. It was fun, we went for Thai at Madam Mam's and the little man was pretty good. He sat in Daddy's lap the whole time, and especially enjoyed a huge fish tank.

This past week W has been bringing his hands together a lot, which is another milestone. He seems to have forgotten (for now) about putting his hands in his mouth. We've gotten him laughing a bit every day now, and it's just as sweet as his first smiles! I posted a video of a little giggle fest on our YouTube page.

He's also been getting really close to rolling from front to back, AND has such good head and neck control that he has been sitting for short periods in his "Bumbo" seat. He loves the new views he's getting!

3 months old tomorrow

Tomorrow is February 9th. Where did the past 3 months go? The time certainly passes much more quickly with a little baby to play with than when pregnant!

We had a fun weekend with William - I rushed home from work on Friday, which was my first day away from him. It went as well as it could have, I missed him to death, but the workday went pretty quickly and it was fun to see friends at the office.

William is becoming more and more alert, and showing his little personality more every day. He smiles almost constantly when he's awake - and when he's not awake, he sleeps like a champ! I don't know where it came from, but after the Super Bowl yesterday he went to bed at 9:55 and slept until... drum roll... 7:30! Over 9 hours! Shattered his old record. He must be gearing up for the Olympics.

Our first full week of me being back to work was a definite success, all is well!

We're excited to be planning a trip to Florida for William to meet his Great-Gran and to see everyone at the Rojahn family golf tournament. It's not until April, but we can't wait!

12 weeks old!

What a big boy! I am almost afraid to put it in writing for fear of jinxing ourselves, but William has been sleeping through the night for the past week! 6,7, even 8 hours at a time!

Today was my first day back to work. I feel so, so lucky to be able to work part-time from home. William did a great job; he slept during my work hours, and woke up over my lunch break to eat and be active. I felt really productive for a first day back, had a few calls and got to talk to my boss, coworkers, and a few clients.

Some fun changes in the past week: he discovered his little mouth. He's been putting his entire hand into his mouth for days now, it's his new favorite activity. We've also coaxed a few little laughs out of him, which were just as adorable and exciting to me as his first real smiles. All the books, etc. say that they really start laughing and squealing a lot by 4 months, so we still have a little while to go until he does it more often, but for now they are gems!

The pictures this week are:
1 & 2. The discovery of his mouth! It is apparently very, very, very entertaining.
3. Peaceful baby... one night before I woke up him for his last nightly meal, I just stared at him for about 15 minutes. I didn't want to wake him up, he was just so beautiful! I know everyone feels this way about their baby, but could he BE any cuter? :)
